I Got Picked for TechEd! And there was much rejoicing. yay.

I was chosen to speak at TechEd New Zealand this year. I’ll be doing some exam-prep sessions and helping out in the Certification Centre on what I like to call “Day 0”, Tuesday prior to the opening Keynote speaker. I’m also doing a session on “Top 10 Ways to Conquer Your Fear of PowerShell” during the main event.

If you are thinking of going and haven’t registered yet, get yourself to the TechEd NZ site for all the details. I hope to see you there!

A Basic Lync 2013 On-Premise & Online Comparison

I was looking for a simple, clear chart or table that would tell me exactly what the differences were between Lync 2013 On-Premise and Online. I couldn’t find one, so I wrote one. The chart outlines the basic differences in functionality between the two products. It’s current as of my writing this, but is likely to change over time. This is not a guaranteed, fully detailed, comprehensive list. It is, however, a good starting point for planning and research if you starting a Lync project.

The chart below is what you get if you are using the full Lync Client for 2013. Using any other client reduces feature set further. For a current, official comparison including all supported clients, go here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425836.aspx
